GPRS - General Pocket Radio Service

What is gprs?

GPRS or General Pocket Radio Service is a mobile data service which is used in 2nd generation phone. It is the same as 3G Phone or 3rd generation.But today's new Generation already uses WIFI which is more faster and gives access to internet especially to the trending Social Media Sites.

What is WAP?

WAP (Wireless Application Protocol) is important to make you more convenient than going to the internet that if you don’t have at home. So the important of this feature nowadays is really helpful especially if you have a bank account to transact for more secure and comfortable. This quick and simple tutorial for wap settings below which I myself even tried and tested. Please read it.

If your SIM card is previously activated using other phones specially those phones supported by Globe and Smart, no need to activate your SIM. This is also valid for postpaid users since SIM cards are pre-activated for MMS, GPRS (GENERAL PACKET RADIO SERVICES) and other services.

But if your SIM is not yet activated or never been used for MMS and GPRS, you need to activate your SIM before you can use MMS and GPRS services.

For Smart SIM, you can use your China Phones to activate MMS and GPRS by simply sending/texting on the choice below usually you can activate that using your Smart or Globe

1.) Menu->SIM Connect->GSM->Select MMS/GPRS/3G->Activate OR

2.) MMS ON to 3401 OR

3.) MMS ON / GPRS ON to 333 OR

4.) 3G, MMS, GPRS text: Set and send to 211 Ex; Set N70 to 211

If your activation is successful you will receive a confirmation that you’ve been activated for that service. And an additional icon G will appear above stands for (GPRS) in line with other icon. So you can now proceed to the tutorial below.

No need to download the configuration for Smart. Just use the configuration below. For Globe SIM, this is a little bit harder and need some workaround. Globe provider cannot activate your SIM manually on their system and the only way to activate it is by downloading the configuration thru text or by asking them to send the configuration. But since China Phones are not yet supported by any Service Provider, what you can do is to active MMS and GPRS using another phone. Monitor until your SIM is activated then transfer your SIM in your China Phone
